Holy crap! That's a lot of plumbing. Way cool. http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/shades.gif
Is that a Procharger blower? Which one? More build info...

I not too sure about that.

Who did you source the A/W core from?

I'm still pondering an intercooler installation (either air/air or air/water) and that core looks like it fits very nice.

Looks good.

the engine is a 383, scat crank & rods, srp pistons, trick flow dutweiller 195 heads, 9.1 comp, victor jr intake, perf rpm hyd roller, csu prep. 750 d/p, hei dist by perf dists., disc procharger, set up with F series race brackets(a new setup we tried) and serpentine belt, p/s relocation kit-i ran a carter 172 boost ref mech pump this year just for the street, switching to a howard stewart race pump soon,
see if his pump can keep up with the higher boost
cooling system is about as cheap and basic as you can get-stock "small" shroud, cheap generick alum rad, and a $10 6 bladed clutch fan(junkyard)
180 deg therm.-dam thing idles @ 180 all day long, never moves from there
the radiator didnt have a drain plug, but for $15 summit has a kit that splices into the bottom rad hose with a drain-pretty slick
i had a guy make up a 5/8" fuel pickup in place of the stock one, and weld the sending unit back in place
i put about 700 miles on it this summer, sorting out diff things, even with the low boost you cant crack the secondaries in 1st or sec without blowing the tires off, cant wait to turn up the boost this winter-i have had several cars with prochargers, some with a lot more power(540, F2), but they were pretty rude driving, this thing is more of a pleasure to drive(no roll cage)lol

Good thread/topic. I've been considering an i/c upgrade on my 72 SUV (GMC Sprint) without cutting anything kinda like Troy here. Your install looks great! Can you provide some additional details on your a/w core, plumbing, routing etc. for a very similar application? Check the link for pics. 1 of 689 possibly 258 if build sheet is found with SP option (SS equiv) Thanks.

Can you do a picture of the oposite side? I"m curious about how big the cooler is.

So you supply it with cold water in order to cool the air? Or is this some form of water injection?

looks great are you using an AC system to chill the intercooler water. ive always thought about building a forced induction liquid intercooled engine. i would have a water tank in the trunk with an AC heat exchanger core to pre chill the water to almost freezing then plumb it through to the intercooler. at moderate boost levels you would see a large increase in hp.

Ford had exactly that on their last Lightning prototypes before they cancelled the model; the A/C system had a heat exchanger in the I/C tank and could "chill" a batch of IC water for a quick blast, and it had a "ready" light on the dash to indicate when the chilled IC water was ready for use. It would then automatically re-chill the tank. Neat idea. I belive it got the water down into the 35F range.

I know Mercedes used to do something similar years ago, although with fuel. The fuel line used to wrap around the line leaving the A/C evaporator (which is still cold) so when you ran the A/C (presumeably on hot days) it also cooled the fuel just before going to the fuel rails. Neat idea.

Myself, I'm going to hack the nose up and run an air to air intercooler. If I was going to strictly drag race my car I'd go with an air/water so I could ice the IC water tank before a run, but since I plan on roadracing my car an air/air would be more reliable and less prone to heat soaking during long periods of use.
