You know, IMO the busting on the pocket rod crowd is getting old. Every generation has/had their punks, posers and wannabes. Some grow out of it, others don't. Life goes on.

Funny thing is, a friend at work who drives an '85 Dodge D150 2wd with at built 440/727, and gets 7mpg out of it. He seriously hates imports and their drivers, but mostly because he feels they aren't supporting the economy by buying American. He's 60, so he's pretty much set in his ways. ;) :D

did the "real" car guys in the 70's wear a shirt that said " air shocks, slots, and N50's does NOT make it a hot rod"?

Nope, we didn't have computers & easy screen printing to make a shirt at a moment's notice, and the Internet wasn't around to market it. :) If we had, someone would have probably done it. Most of us "real" car guys wore white tees or our work shirts from the service stations & garages we worked at. Sure wish I'd kept my old Phillips 66 & Gulf shirts from back then. :( No way they'd still fit me though. :p

BUT I guess I'm dreaming again?? Darn old-man that I am becoming!!

LOL ... A while back I came across one of my old Sunoco jump suits. I didn't wear the jump suits much because I liked the Blue shirts and blue pants better. But If I knew I had a dirty job or was towing in the winter, I would wear it.

I tried to put it on for the hell of it and forget about it! Man, I must have been thin (or in shape) back then! Brought back some memories, but I could never fit into that thing again, even if my life depened on it!
