: Vertical bars in grill - 70SS

Thanks all for the help. I have taken my grill out of the car in order to paint it (it was just plain gray). I have all the stainless trim for above and below the center horizontal bar. These pieces travel the edge of the top and bottom grill areas.

I also have a piece of trim that goes vertically in the middle of the grill. There is a bar both above and below where the "SS" is. Is this short (about 3") piece of stainless trim supposed to be there?

I hope I am clear enough but can try explaining further if needed. I don't have a digital camera to help explain.

Hey David,

The vertical pieces are used on the Malibu. They are not used on the SS version of the grille.

I agree with Randy. SS did not have vertical center pieces. Also if your grill is currently gray then that was orinally a malibu grill or an aftermarket replacement. ALL SS grilles were semi flat black.

Randy and Steve,

Thanks for the information. I have had my suspecions about this car being an SS versus a Malibu (not that it matters either way to me). So I was not sure about those vertical pieces in the middle. Thanks for clearing it up.

Seeing how I'm trying to represent an SS (clone), I will just not add those pieces when I put the grill back together after painting. Thanks again guys and have a great day!
