Hey guys, I'm looking to get a front end kit for my 66 chevelle and PST asks if the rear control arm bushing is 1.90 or 1.67". I am new to this, but my question is....where do you measure the bushing? Can you measure the bushing in place or do you have to take it apart to measure it?I measured the flange with a caliper and got a reading of around 1 7/8". My caliper only reads fractions. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I can't answer your question but you might want to search the archives. Also do a search on rubber vs. polly, I like rubber.

PST is asking for the diameter of the bushing on your front lower control arm...'66 came in two different sizes, as you've noted.
You'll need to measure the bore (hole) size of the control arm or the body of the actual bushing, not the flange of that bushing.

I just got done installing my bushings from PST. They sent me 1.9" and 1.67" bushings. I had to send the 1.9" back for 1.4" bushings, they told me that I must have 66` lowers on my 65`. They went the wrong ones again but they finally sent the right ones. I don`t know what arms I got but it took me a few weeks to get all the correct parts. If you can afford the down time, remove the bushings and measure them before ordering parts.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have checked the archives for my answer but most were about poly vs rubber or how to change them. I was hoping I wasn't going to have to take them out to find out what size I need, because I'm gonna have to let a shop do it, not having the tools or facilities to do it myself. But it sounds like PST will send me the differant sizes if I ask and pay for them. Thanks for the help again.

Use RUBBER in the rear. For the front lowers, measure the diameter of the bushing with your caliper inside the control arm, next to the side where it was pressed IN (the flange side of the bushing, but inside the arm). The difference between 1.9 and 1.67 is almost a 1/4 inch. Easily decernable no matter what type caliper you're using. The 1.9 inch bushing will be almost 2 inches while the 1.67 will be slightly less than 1 3/4 inch.
