Just got car back from painter. Installing repro LH mirror (Ground Up). The base/gasket don't fully cover the large hole (factory cut) that I assume is for a remote mirror cable.

QUESTION: Did all '69s have that hole and the mirror I've got is "mismade", or do I have a door that was on a remote mirror optioned car only? (I have no idea what the original car had on it, but the mirror it came to me with covered the hole, but I know the mirror wasn't original either.)

Another way to ask question is "were all LH doors the same, or did the remote mirror cars have a hole cut in LH door?)

Every 69 drivers door that I have seen has that hole for the remote mirror, I suspect that you've come across some of that repro "quality"

I had the same problem on my 70. The repro mirror would only cover the hole if i moved the base and that would require the holes to be redrilled. I found an original mirror with the mounting base.Used the original mount with the repro mirror and it worked fine.
