Question for you all
I notice that the catalogs list 2 different e-brake cables; one for Turbo 400, another for "other"
Which setup do I want to get for my conversion to a 700R4?
Thanks!

Found this ancient thread...
Does anyone have an answer for this? My '70 Chevelle E-brake intermediate cable snapped years ago, and I have since swapped the TH350 for a 700-R4.
While I'm at it, I will also replace the front cable. I already have new rear cables since I recently converted from drums to discs and it came with replacements.
Also, can anyone point me to a diagram showing the routing of the cables?
Thanks!

the crickets are deafening! i guess no one wants to touch this with a ten foot pole...
please, someone correct me if they know differently, but i am taking a guess that the front cable wouldn't have changed with the TH350/700-R4 swap. so, i can just get a non-TH400 front cable.
however, the intermediate cable probably is different because the crossmember likely moved, right? if that is right, does an aftermarket solution work, or do i have to have something fabricated?
anyone, anyone?

IIRC all I had to do was to custom bend the e brake hanger on the crossmember to make it shorter to give me the tension I needed. My 69 had a PG originally.

When I first converted to a 700R4 I bought a cable shortner at advance auto, Yes it worked and was very tacky. On the right side of the crossmember the 1/4" / 5/16" cable guide on the crossmember.
Got a piece of 1/4 or 5/16" rod and made a copy only shorter. I just went out to measure it, It is close to 4 3/4"-5" inside the the two loops, or measure from where the cable rides to the hole in the crosmember.
Or BEND a tight loop. THEN -- Hook it over the Emg. cable, With the Adj. nuts on the drivers side backed off a bit, Snug it up and mark where you want to bend it... Now bend a loop so it will go in the crossmember.
After you are done, Glass bead prime and paint Semi Gl. Black.
NOTE: mine is a 70 SS 454 / 700R4 / 3:07 12 bolt. If you are near the Clev. Oh. Chevelle show next week you can measure mine.
