I pulled my rear window glass (70 malibu) and I've got some work to do on the channel before reinstalling the glass. A couple of questions:

1) What is the depth of the rear window channel? I realize it's roughly the depth of butyl tape (5/16) plus the thickness of the glass plus the molding. If someone has their rear window out, could you possibly measure it? I need to rebuild many of the areas and I don't have a good reference point to measure.

2) Where can I get some screw-in studs for the mounting clips and at what depth should they be screwed into the window channel?

Thanks,
TK

The depth of mine(72) is just slightly over 3/4". The studs are located 7/16" from the top. You can find the studs at most body shop supply places. They are made by a company called Au-Ve-Co. The part # for the studs is 9877.

I just called and the customer disservice department told me that I cannot obtain a catalog directly from them and that I should pursue locating any parts I need at a local distributor.

I have the same problem. How are you planning on fixing the rusted areas? I have a few nice holes on the lower passenger side corner of the rear window. I was going to buy a whole new rear quarter panel if it coverered this area. I noticed it has been body filled once before.

I haven't come up with a definite plan yet, but I'm strongly considering putting in drains in the corners as someone has mentioned in the past.
