RE: 1969 Chevelle: Are the hood hinges for an SS hood the same as the hood hinges for a regular (flat) hood?

Thanks a bunch.

Welcome to the best site on the net!!

As a side note the 68 hinges are different though the hoods appear the same.

Just to clear the air for those that don't know. You have to have 69 hood hinges for a 69 hood. The 68 hoods have to have 68 hinges.

The hood hinges on the 69 full size impala and such are the exact same as the chevelle, tons of them in the bone yards. You do have to change the springs so you dont bend your chevelle hood in half. Good luck..

i bought some aftermarket ones and they are total JUNK. I am debating whether or not to return them and get something from the junk yard. Plus, they say MADE IN TAIWAIN, who wants that on a classic?

some may already know this because I've posted it several times but

It is very easy to make 69 hinges out of 70-72 hinges
all you need to do is use a 69 hinge for a template to scribe around and cut the hook off the back, file it down a little and you can't tell it was ever done
