i found a guy who has a 67 parts car and is willing to cut the hole upper dash down to the fire wall out.so i cut and trim to fit the hole thing in my car.
i was going to buy the OPG X4642B dash and windshield filler panals to repair the rust damage on my 67 ss chevelle.but if i can get the upper dash and window channel i think it would be easier to repair the rusted upper dash and etc!
my questio is,does anyone think this is the way to go or not?and is it possible to do it this way?
i need some advise before i buy the upper dash and so on!
thanks! chris

You can cut the dash out if you wish, but it's a lot simpler and less messy to unbolt it as it is designed to do. You may also have glass channel issues, but the entire dash is bolted in.

I thought on the 66-67 chevelle's the upper dash was welded to the main body, and was not removable?

The upper part of the '66 dash fits under the windshield channel and is spot welded to the channel. I replaced the windshield channel and had to separate the upper dash. Once loose from the channel you can bend it back out of the way, put the windshield channel back in and then set the dash panel back under the windshield channel. Drill some small holes into the channel and spot weld through the channel and catch the dash panel. You can then spot weld along the edge of the panel and the channel where they fit together. Grind and paint to suit.
I rank it right up there with changing freeze plugs, both are the worse things I have attempted to date and that's why the windshield channel was the first thing I tackled. Everyhting else has been a piece of cake after that channel replacement. LOL
Good Luck

hey chevysrus,i talking about buying all this from a parts car were its still all welded together. he going to cut down to the fire wall that way i can trim it to fit and put in in the car all as one piece. do you think it can be done this way? i was thinking of welding it in about 2 or 3 inchs below the windshield? what do you think?

Chris,
There are two pieces to this opg kit. one is a very good piece to seal the bottom edge of the window and this spot welds to the top of dash. The other piece is to replace the lower edge of the dash if it is rotted. I could take some pics of my SS which has not been modified. let me know
