Howdy guys!

Some of you may have been following my Pro Touring build-up of a '71 Chevelle. It's just about time to make a choice on a steering column, and I thought I'd ask TC'ers if they could recommend a solution for the following requirements:

1. Tilt (that's a given...:)
2. Cruise Control on the wand
3. Headlight dimmer on the wand
4. Windshield wiper controls (with intermittant) on the wand
5. Key switch on the column
6. Non-airbag column
7. Close as possible to original mounting configuration

I'd like to use the GM-style wand, with the cruise, wipers, dimmer all inclusive.

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A COLUMN THAT WOULD FIT THE BILL, AND INSTALL EASILY?

mid 80s caprice would be my first try,has every thing you want but you didn't say where you want the shifter

Yeah, my mistake....this is a 6-speed Richmond, floor shifter. Any idea if the Caprice column is a direct bolt in?

just a matter of comparing lengths at the junkyard. check splines on gear box end of shaft. you should be able to see which cars use the same gearbox at any parts store. if the caprice doesn't fit, go for a mid-size monte, cutlass, or grand prix.
