Has anyone else had problems with the repo plastic inner shields fitting right or did I just get a bad pair? I had to trim and add holes to them to get them to fit close to the way the olds ones did.

Ken from Ground Up told me he won't even sell the plastic repros because of the poor quality. I opted for a set of the steel ones.(Haven't put them in yet though.)

My car came with plastic inner shields so I thought that is the way to go. And being that the car and I live in Northern Illinois it would be a better choice. Still fighting the pass side but hopefully I will have it done by this weekend.
What are people going to do if their car had plastic from the factory and want to stay original?

Thanks for the info. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I've read many posts on the poor quality of the plastic inners. I used a pair in 1994, and didn't really have any trouble. I trimmed about 1/4" off the very front of the r.side and had to make one new hole in the r. side as well. Has the quality deteriorated since then?

Well the Driver side I to had to trim 1/4 of front just to get it to fit and the holes in the front lined up for garbage, drilled the holes for the wiring harness/washer hose, etc and it only had one hole instead of two for the lower back bolts. The pass side is still being worked on but I had to trim 1/4 + in the front just so it will fit and it too only has one instead of two lower holes. Have not finished that side yet. Just to hot to fight with it.
If I had to do it all over again I would try the metal ones original or not. The damn plastic ones ran $189 and I have to play to make them work. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/mad.gif

Well, maybe this is just me, but I picked up some metal ones and they weren't much better. There were two holes that I couldn't even get bolts into on the drivers side. They didn't line up well either. It was my first pair to put in, so maybe I just don't know how to put them in.

I guess it all boils down to they don't make'em like they use to!
