I (almost) always remember to fill the oil filter before I start my car after an oil change. I am thrashing to get my race car ready for Sunday, and it slippped my mind. I started the car to check my transcooler (which leaked, nother story :-(

I watched the oil pressure gauge sit on 0 for what seemed like a year (about three seconds)

Anybody else done this and hurt anything ?????

I do it all the time, you still had a film of oil on everything if its been ran somewhat recently. I wouldnt worry about it. I couldnt not fill my oil filter up with out it making an incredible mess all over my headers when i go to install it. Dont worry about it...

I think you'd be shocked at how long a mill will run without oil, providing there is a film on the bearings.

Ya, I forgot about all the cars that have oil filters that go into the block sidways, I feel better.

I better put a bigger nitrous jet in it just to be sure LOL

I went to a local cruise in a neighboring town {Jesup} And everyone got to bet on how long a geo metro would run after the oil was drained out....It went what seemed like for ever, i think it was over 2 minutes at W.O.T.

I've never put oil in the oil filter, just start it and watch the oil pressure guage to make sure I have some.

Nope...I figure it's trashed John...lucky it hasn't puked all over the floor already.

Better pull it out and stick the 555 in it quick!!

But I'm with you...when they act up like that, even it is your fault...I'd just throw an extra couple hundred HP to the juice and let it know who's boss! We'll find out quick if it's hurt!

Seriously, go worry about something else....you're fine.

well, any outfit that changes oil is not going to go through the trouble of putting oil in the filter first so it's not going to be a problem. probably 99% of oil changes happen that way.
worry about the cooler leak instead ;)
