What should be the charging voltage as measured at the battery on a properly functioning system? I'm reading +15.3 to +15.6V. after the car is warmed up and been running awhile. This seems too high by about 1 V. I remember that it should be + 14.2 to 14.5 V. I am questioning the charging system because I found that a ground wire was not attached to the regulator and I was getting +19 V on the battery when the car was running. Put on the ground wire and now get the above condition. I am wondering if I "fried" the regulator/alternator by not having the grounding wire on the regulator. I have replaced the battery because of the above situation.

About 14.2 to 14.5 is the correct voltage. 15.3 at the battery is a little high.
