What would you guys recomend to get the front of my 66 El Camino up there gasser style? I would like to raise it about 4 or 5 more inches at least. It has a iron 454 and an all steel body.
The stance is very important to me. I love the look and I'm willing to live with a rough ride if I have to. I do want to be safe.
Thank you for the help.

Ditto on the straight axle. I've seen some IFS cars lifted and they have some scarry ways of doing it... Like C channel bolted between the upper ball joint and spindle and the lower arm drooped down real far... wouldn't like to drive that...

In the future I do eventually want a straight axle. And fenderwell headers. But in the meantime most of my budget is going to just get the Elco back on the road.
I just wondered what I could do in the meantime with my coil springs.
There is a guy I talked to on E-bay that is getting ready to produce ball joint spacers for Chevelles in the future. I thougt maybe those plus some BB springs and a spacer under the springs.

High lift coil springs will raise your front end up to 4 inches. Cost about $90/pair from JC Whitney. That's what's on my 64 El Camino - check it out:

Also have new suspension and heavy sway bars front and back. As for the ride it is a bit rough but it's fun and I like it alot. And gasser El Caminos really stand out from the crowd.
