Hi group. The wife has decided that she wants a 2" cowl hood instead of a SS hood after seeing a couple of them this weekend at Super Chevy. I called Hinshaws and they said no one makes a steel hood like this for the car. Has anyone else found a source for one or what did they do? I really did not want to go with a fiberglass unit, but maybe that is my only option. Any relies much appreciated.

i am currently going through the same problem, i want a steel one too, but no one yet makes one, Goodmark is currently tooling one, but they just told me it will still be several months before its ready, i dont know if i can wait that long, so ill just stick with my malibu hood..

thanks for the reply. did Goodmark say exactly when they were gonna release it or is it a "get it when you get it" deal? The car does not go to the body shop til january so I have some time to spare. As for pictures, that will have to wait. The way it looks now will definitely not be the way it looks by next spring.

goodmark said several months, they also said the same thing when i contacted them back in june, so who knows..

I just went to the Goodmark Industries website and under steel cowl hoods there is a listing for a 2" cowl hood for 1966 Chevelle. I don't know if it is available or not, but there is a listing.
