I have two questions about sheetmetal on my 69 el camino. First off I have holes rusted in the floor pans just behind the seats. The rest of the floor is ok I just want to replace the rear floorpans. I know OPG makes these sections. I want to know how hard it is to cut these sections out and replace them myself. Second, I need to replace the full passenger side quarter panel. Is this possable to do myself or am I asking to much? This is one thing that worries me the most. And if I can save the money by doing it myself it would really help.

If you only have a few rust holes in your floor then cut and patch. You don't really need to buy a pan unless it is big enough that you need a new piece.

About the quarter. If you think you have enough ability to do it yourself then go for it. Just be patient. Check the fit and recheck it many times until you have it right. Do a search under body shop for quarter replacement. There is a ton of do it yourself advice.

Good luck

I replaced mine recently and it's a bit of a job. I can't say if it's something you can handle because I don't know what your skill level is. Of all the pans in the car, this one is probably the most difficult to replace because it seems as though they built the car around that entire section. It might be easier to use the two piece pans. I bought the one piece because that was all that was available at the time. But I installed the new pan the way the factory installed the original. I cut the spot welds out and peeled the other panels away and sandwiched the new panel between the sheetmetal layers like it was when it came from the factory. Let me see if I can still find the thread with the pictures and I'll post the link.

This the almost finished product. I'm currently redoing the entire floor, front and rear, with silver Por 15.

i am replacing my rear seat pan right now too and it seems like a huge job at first but dont worry. just go very slowly and be careful what you cut its allways easier to cut more but not put it back on. i did mine the same way randy did by cutting the spot welds, folding up the lip on the quarter window thing and then sandwitching the metal back in. It seems tough at first but its not so bad
