I cant wait to see the final product. It looks like it has a great stance so far. Andy Motorhead62 Nov 21st, 05, 10:42 AM Very nice! Did you know there is a new Pro Touring section here at TC! :beers:  :D BB_Mike Nov 21st, 05, 11:14 AM Good stuff. Wee need a front view from down low. Looks like you have the anti bump-steer connecting rods. There is one picture whee you are waving at your car. Looks kinda funny. ;) Clint44 Nov 21st, 05, 3:18 PM Your car is really looking great,Gregg. Looking forward to seeing it at CB06. PickSS Nov 21st, 05, 3:43 PM Gregg, What wheel and tire combo are you running? Great car!! 72SSAbody Nov 21st, 05, 5:16 PM  Joe Freddy Mercado Nov 21st, 05, 5:59 PM WOW!!!!! Now that looks good!!!!! T-Man Nov 21st, 05, 9:17 PM Looking good Gregg. riskyvt Nov 22nd, 05, 8:22 AM Gregg, What wheel and tire combo are you running? Great car!! Sean- Wheels are American Racing's Torq-Thrust II, 17x9.5 w/6.5" Back-spacing on the rear, and 17x8 w/4.75" back-spacing on the front. Tires are BFG G-Force TA KD radials with 275/40ZR17 on the rear & 225/45ZR17 on the front. Clint Hooper is probably shaking his head at my tiny tire choices, but I had to start somewhere! Thanks for all the kind words everybody....I am now jazzed to get this car done for CB2006...AND DRIVE IT THERE instead of trailering it. PickSS Nov 22nd, 05, 4:00 PM Gregg, Thanks for thei nfo..great choice. I'll keep in touch as my semi pro touring 66 should be done in time...maybe we could hook up along the way! JIM Nov 22nd, 05, 4:13 PM Those are some amazing pics. That is a hell of a lot of work! You have patience. :) riskyvt Nov 22nd, 05, 4:21 PM Thanks Jim! I have to confess, however, the photos of the bodywork & paint have nothing to do with me. A friend I went to High School with has his own paint & bodyshop, and does very good work. He painted my Mulsanne Blue '72 SS some of you might have seen at the last three CB's in Tennessee. He agreed to paint this car too, but had a great platform to start with on this PT car, a Van Nuys California built Malibu with absolutely NO rust in the floor system. Goodmark quarters were installed by the guy I bought it from, and the doors and rockers were rust free. He shaved the firewall (I'm going to use a Vintage Air "under dash" unit, with a small AN-fitting style bulkhead pass-thru for the lines) in the desire to keep a clean look. In all honesty, the reconditioning of the chassis is the easy part of these restos. This is my second, and they go quickly and easily. The next phase (getting the car to drive under its own power) will be the most rewarding part for me. I look forward to it...and will keep 'yall updated with pictures and restoration timeline text. You mentioned chip guard on the underbody, is it possible to let me know what all you used on the underbody and the steps on how it was done. Thanks. Rob D Stroud Nov 23rd, 05, 6:29 PM Very, Very Nice! What are you doing for PCV when using those valve covers? riskyvt Nov 28th, 05, 3:41 PM What are you doing for PCV when using those valve covers? Good question! I hadn't thought that far ahead....I suppose a drilled hole and the correct size PVC grommet would do the trick. riskyvt Nov 28th, 05, 3:42 PM is it possible to let me know what all you used on the underbody and the steps on how it was done. Thanks. Rob It may take me a while, but let me ask my body/paint guy the procedure he used, and any product names. rubadub Nov 28th, 05, 6:36 PM Thanks Gregg Rob |
