I have a small tear (2 inches) in the convertible top for my 70 396 SS convertible. Can I get some advice as to whether I can get this fixed? Are there kits to fix this or should I play it smart and bring it to a professional? The tear is right where the pad is located.
Thanks,
Gerry

I called an upholstery shop and the owner says that I have to replace the top. The top is practically brand new and I'm not buying this. Thanks again for any help.

Ive seen several repairs - and I have to tell you I have never seen one that is invisible. While I have not tried this - If you are willing to live with the repair being seen and cant find someone to do the job - perhaps you could a) taping the edges together, glueing the cloth, then remove the tape, or b) small iron on patches to keep the area together? Guess a lot will depend on where and how big the tear is...

Thanks for your help. I went with black (the top is black) duct tape under the rip and added superglue to make sure the top adhered to the unerlying patch. It really doesn't look bad. Thanks again.
