: Binks "Thor" - Can't get a fan - long

For repayment of many cases of graemlins/beers.gif I've been nominated to shoot the color on my neighbor's '69 C-10. According to him, the gun's been gone through, new packings, etc, and I did some paint with it tonight on "non-critical" areas. For the life of me I couldn't get this thing to produce a decent pattern.
All's I could get was about a 3" fan, wet in the center, and really dry to the edges (45lbs. at the gun, properly mixed paint) and it was either way dry, or practically shooting "silly-string" out of it. I'm looking for the 6" to 8" fan that I know a Binks gun can shoot.
It's been 20 years since I've had one in my paws, am I forgetting something??? graemlins/clonk.gif

John, sounds like an air cap--needle valve problem.
Why not use a roller and tray-keeps the overspray down. :D :D ;) ;)

I would go for the roller job like Karl suggested. I bought a 70 chevelle out of CA sight unseen, got it home and its red paint job was rolled on-looked pretty sweet

On the gun the air cap might have some dirt etc in the holes preventing air from coming out and breaking up the paint. You need to disassemble the gun and clean with thinner or gun cleaner.

Thanks Guys! - Kinda what I thought - His idea of a "clean" gun and mine are somewhat...uhh different.

Pushing $200 a gallon for his color/pearled clear paint I don't want to screw it up!

Looking forward to see you all at CS in 2 weeks! graemlins/beers.gif
