I need to upgrade my fuel system and know almost nothing about performance systems.

If I use a mechanical fuel pump like a Carter with 1/2" fuel line can I mount the filter by the gas tank? What should I watch for when buying a filter?

If a fuel cell is mounted in the trunk do you need a sealed bulkhead between it and the passenger compartment to comply with NHRA & IHRA rules?

I can't find any books on fuel systems, any suggestions where to look?
