Hello, Working with a'70w/cowl induction, I want to replace my hood hinges,( because I believe them to be toast)and had a few questons.1.Should you replace both hinge and spring? 2.Has anyone bought them from GMPP? (their webpage contradicts itself)
3.I do not see an applicaton for cowl hoods (i.e. different spring lenghts or hinges)on their web site or in the assembly manual or any other parts supplier so the assumption is there is only one applicaton?. Thanks in advance. Brad

I'll take a shot. If you're replacing the hinges go ahead and replace the springs (mine came together, compliments of the local yard) however, if you are putting them on a cowl hood I believe the hinges and springs are more heavy duty than the standard hood to hold the extra weight and not degrade with use.

I used standard hinges and they are working currently just fine after adjustment. If you are unsure of GMPP's I would call them and inquire as to what's what.

Have you tried Ground Up? Our sponsor? Might try there aslo or perhaps even ebay.

The hinges are the same for all three hoods that came on 70-72 chevelles, but the springs are different for the ss and cowl hood. Hinges # are 3976675 for LH, 3976676-RH, the springs are 384680.

You can still buy new hinges and springs from your local GM dealer, just bought a new set two weeks ago...Eric
