Greetings.
I am in the process of collecting parts to convert my automatic chevelle to a muncie 4spd. How different is the crossmembers? Can I use my existing automatic crossmember?
What about bellhousings. Will any chevrolet bellhousing work providing I get the correct size? eg. 10.5 in or 11 in clutch.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Clair,
I don't think there is any difference in the crossmembers, just the rear transmission mount. I could be wrong here. You may want to do a search on "bellhousings". I know that question has been answered cuz I asked it. I recommend you use either the correct GM part number bellhousing (usually available on e-bay) or a new Lakewood scattershield for your application. Again, I believe the search will yield the correct GM part number for you application. Just be careful when buying used. Many are cracked.

i'm in the process of doing an auto to manual conversion myself. TH350 to Tremec. Do a search in the transmisiion section and you will find TONS of info. Thats where i got all my questions answered. Depending on what bell you get, you may need a differnt starter. Also, make sure you don't get a truck bell housing. I'm not totally sure, but i believe the hole in the back of the bell is slightly larger on truck bells. The search you do should give you all the bell housing #'s to look for, 10.in, 11" ect. And some advice for you as far as the linkage is concerned, get as many original parts as you can...i've been having headaches dealing with a bunch of repop parts that don't fit (http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109112). Also, if you didn't know already, if your car came from the factory as an auto, there is a good chance that you will have to drill a hole in that plate that attaches to the steering coulumn at the firewall. The firewall itself should have a hole in it already, just need to punch one in the plate for the clutch pedal to z-bar connecting rod.- Eric
