Does anyone know how much oil the rear end takes, and what kind is suggested? I think I will pop the cover off again to make certain if I have a 8.2" or an 8.5" so i'm ready when I order gears.

Depends on carrier/gears for type/wt oil used and if any additive (posi).

Is the rear in the car ? If so fill to bottm of plug hole.

It's the stock "2 series" open carrier in the car.

What size do the bottles come in? It's been so long since i've had my hand on one.

They come in quarts for sure, and I think gallons also for big rigs.
