Just watched another dipstick auction go down on ebay. I even jumped in to see if I could win the auction on the cheap. Turns out the same guy who sold the $600 dipstick last week bid $106.38 to win the item. At least I kept him from stealing it :) We should see it relisted in no time with a fat reserve and another outrageous high bid.

I saw that one too, 1bad... The seller in that auction was third-highest bidder in the auction that went for $106.38. There's a whole lot of buying and reselling on ebay...

I bet all 3 buyers and sellers are all together on it and then let someone get lured into the bidding frenzy and go for the kill, lol

Or they just swap back and forth to drive the prices up on hard to find stuff.
JMHO

The key is in the description, and the write-up. That $106 dipstick only made it that far, because the seller didn't bother to ID the cars it is correct in. Thus, unless a buyer knows the p/n, it doesn't gain the attention it needs to be a big $$$ item. More power to that guy, if he can profit $4-500 off someone elses mistake. That's what makes this country great. ;) That seller that just made $106 on a dipstick is no doubt grinning from ear to ear, until he sees what's going to happen next. :clonk: :D

Another dipstick that posts on here recently paid 2000.00+ for some diverter valves. I think he may sleep with them.

There are a few subtle differences, but the most obvious, and likely why some are paying hundreds for the ones used on the assembly line,is the design of the pull hook.
The original was a flatened out loop right up to the opaque color,as well as the design of the oil level text imprinted on the stick itself.
The later issued & repops are a rounded tube up to the end of the opaque, and have less descriptive text.
