i would like to pull the dash out of my 67 car and cleah the fire wall, there was a fire from the previous ouwner. the small stip out side the front windshied has a few rusty spots under the paint. looking under the dash i dont see any rust through but there are some miner water leaks. my question is what am i in for, could there be any hidden problems, what do i need to look for before i tear it apart. i have already removed all the ac and heat,no holes that i can see just a lot of rust. would someone be so kind as to lay a plan out for me. thanks

Go to http://www.chevelles.com/aces ,click on #1 under chevelles and go to Simply Dashing under technical. Very easy project. Also may want to consider removing the front windshield to check for rot. Hope this helps,e-mail me if you have anymore questions.

If you getting water in there, I would defanatly pull the windsheild like Rick mentioned. Especialy if you see the paint bubbling. Here's what you might find. (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/temprusty.jpg) Cal

it shouldnt take too long to pull it out just make sure you label all the connectors and bulbs on the dash harness.regarding the leaks.iread agood tip for locating them.dust the f irewall with talcum powder then get the garden hose out and lightly spray the car trace the trails find the leaks.i done my 66 and i no longer have to put towels on the floor when i wash it good luck

If you find rust on the bottom how do you fix it? I have seen a front windsheild track filler panel but what if it is in to the dash & the firewall. where they meet?

i ordered the windshield channel did not order the dash top metal edge. it looks to be fine looking in through the windshield, i suppose when i get it apart and if there is some sort of minor rust through will allmetal and dp90 fix the dash part. also is the winshield channel a weld in piece. thanks
