: Water leaking into cab...

Water is leaking into my cab down the firewall next to the kickpanel vents. I suspect it is coming in thru the air intake for the vents and then leaking thru to the firewall instead of draining. Any ideas of how to fix it because this doesn't seem like an easy spot to get to.

Could it possibly be coming from your heater core. Do you have a anti-freeze smell in the car, or coming from the carpet. Just a thought. Cal

My 68 el Camino had the same problem. Turned out to be a bad windshield seal.

Had the same problem on a 69 EC and a 70 SS 396 Chevelle. Turned out to be the seam on the outer edges of the cowl area where the car was seam sealed by the factory. These spots like to rust pretty easily. I took out all of the old seam sealer, treated the rust and resealed the seams. Problem solved.

I really would like to have some carpet in my car this summer. Keeps the heat down a bit.

Thanks for all the ideas

HAd the same as Hilks,on a 78 malibu, cowl seam down the side just ahead of the door hinges... I found it by pulling the carpet, and had my daughter run hose water down the windshield corner while I laid in on the floor with a flashlite :(

Flywheel hit it on the head. You have to find where it's leaking in before you can fix it. Get the hose out and put somebody in the car watching the spot where water shows. Start low with the hose and work up to try and find the spot. May have to pull the cowl screens to get in there.
Good luck,
