We have converted 4 drums to 4 disks. We have checked the entire system ruled everything out but the proportioning valve. We have some rear brakes, no front brakes and the pedal is rock hard.
I have searched all over the forum but haven't found a clear answer on how to reset the proportioning valve. I think this is defiantly the issue. If I can't reset the valve is it best to replace it or will I run into the same problem when bleeding the lines again?

What kind of car? Did you use stock parts? On my 70 el camino after replacing front calipers and rear wheel cylinders I had a similiar problem. My car had the little 1 line valve mounted to the master cylinder(delay valve I think) with a rubber button on the back. I needed 3 people to do the brakes. 1 to pump, 1 to bleed and 1 to hold that button in. Hope this helps.

It's a 68 Chev (not our car). The disk brake system is off a 72 Corvette. My husband and I did not obtain the brake sys. I'm concerned that the MC and booster are too small.
I'm going to go see if there are any buttons or switches we may have missed.
I took the proportioning valve off. It was closed to the front brakes. I cleaned it and reassembled it, but now we can't get the car to start so I haven't tested it or bleed the brakes again.

It was the proportioning valve! The breaks work perfectly now.
