Well it was a loooooong weekend getting this thing done! We (the painter and I) spent two 14 hour days with the final prep and painting of the 64. But it's got color! Or should I say color'S. We started out with a candy sub-lime green stripe, followed by the Lamborghini orange, then the black! He still has to paint the hood deck lid and front valance, but that won't take long. So anyway here are a couple of pictures. The camara doesn't do it any justice. You have to see it in person to appreciate it. Some people won't like the colors, but hey it will get a response either day! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

So now it's time to get all back together! graemlins/beers.gif

Well the basic process was laying down the green along the top body line. Then taking 1/4" tape and laying the stripe over the green. Then we papered off the top with 18" paper over the 1/4" tape. Then he sprayed the lower half of the car. This required a white sealer first then the color. Once that was flashed off we taped the bottom of the car and shot the black. Then we pulled the 1/4" tape leaving the green stripe. The only prboblem we ran into was the white sealer showed in a couple places on the bottom of the stripe. So those had to be touched up. Once that was done the clear went on.
We used Sikkens paint, but the orange is a factory lamborghini color. In fact I can give the PPG code for it. The green is a Kawasaki color believe it or not...lol. It's a candy green, but didn't require multiple materials for the effect. Just shot the base.

It was a long process though! It was almost 12 hrs in the booth! But man I'm sooo happy with the way it came out. Mybuddy took like 60 pics during the job so I need to get those and post some of them

BTW: I like the two-tone 'Gasser' paint scheme that has the top deck color contrasted to the body shell. That always looks good no matter what colors are chosen. The lime green division stripe effect around the perimeter that seperates the two colors shows some ingenuity. I've never seen that one before.

Nothing wrong with the color scheme on a pro-street car deliberately intended to be kooky lookin'. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Black on Lime Green on Nuclear Fireball Orange? Well, why the heck not? If you're going to hurt everyone's ears, you might as well hurt their eyes too. :D j/k

Thanks for the compliments guys! I know it's a little different scheme than most, but I had to do it. I wanted to be a little different. I know the black and orange has been done before, but there's not one running around my neck of the woods.
Pvt Cowboy....that's not my big head in the picture :D That's a good buddy of mine who's helped out during this whole rebuild. I thought the picture was hilarious too, that's why I put it on the webpage :D
