Hey, anybody seen an SS el Camino with a 350/2bbl carb? I've owned a few Chevelles over the years, restored a couple of SS models (frame-off) and figure I know a thing or two about 'em. I always knew you could find the SS with a small block but I never heard of one with a 2bbl. I recently purchased a 72 el Camino SS (for a song) that has a 350. I didn't complain, the body has minimal damage, interior needs some work but it's all original with every moulding and emblem in perfect shape. I didn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth knowing this was a true SS so I drove it home (quickly) and popped the hood again to spend some quality time alone, pulled the air cleaner to discover no 4bbl. The very clean engine compartment still has the 'tune-up spec label' on the rad-supprt. Sure enough it says 350 2bbl. I haven't had the chance to get the numbers but thought I'd throw this out there for some input..........?

Found this from the "How to Spot a Genuine/Fake SS" page here on TC.

"The '72 SS equipment was the same as in '71. It was, however, possible to order a '72 SS with any optional V8 (454, 402, 350-4, and 350-2)."

Thanks Dan, I'll check it out.......
Have you ran the numbers on the passenger side of the engine block? That will tell you everything you need to know.

I curently own a 71 SS Chevelle, 350-2. Engine code L65. Hey, these may be more rare than an LS-6 lol.

Pretty funny, I used that line on my wife when she wondered "what the hell did you buy now" I told her... it's a hens tooth honey, very very rare. Anyway, I appreciate the feedback from everybody, that validates the engine set-up. It runs pretty strong with 2bbls so I just may keep it that way. It's never been molested so keeping it 'as is' might be the best thing to do with it.
Again, thanks. This site is righteous.
