Ended up going to KCIR today, only change was I put on electric fans. I don't think they probably helped though. I drove it too the track for the first time, my slicks are pretty wore out but with a baby on the way, it will be next season for new ones..

Best pass before this was
60' 1.589
1/4 11.789
mph 113.23

First pass
60' 1.641
1/4 11.802
mph 112.66

spun bad

second pass
60' 1.589
1/4 11.714
mph 112.65

Third pass
60' 1.614
1/4 11.702
mph 112.76

Decided to change jets from 78 square to 80's square.

Fourth pass
60' 1.63
1/4 11.648
mph 113.76

Last pass chaned nothing just trying to get it too hook

60' 1.598
330 4.698
1/8 7.349
mph 92.01
1000 9.66
1/4 11.641
mph 113.50

My slicks are two years old now, so I definately need new ones, it used to 60 consistently 1.58-1.59. I didn't feel it ever deadhooked but I'm a little rusty this year too.

Winter Plans:
Work on suspension, its bone stock right now down to the 30 year old bushings
New slicks, going to try a 30" tall tire
Keep tuning on carb and timing
Performer RPM AirGap

I have to tell Garret thanks for the help and advice!

Congrats on the new bests!! You should have come to MoKan. How come your mph is so low? What size carb? What intake? I hear Garret did pretty good too?

Garrett did real well, I don't understand why this car mph's so low, 950 hp, vic jr. Any ideas?? I have to say Garrett helped out a lot with the advice!

What size tire are you running Bob?

Thanks, Matt

295/65/15 MT drag radials,,,,BEST EVER 60ft time of 1.507....the best I had with Hoosier 30x9x15 radial slicks was 1.51, both tires are 30" tall, mounted on 15x8 draglites. I had to trim the back inside wheel well/fender to keep them from rubbing on turns.

I believe the taller tire may help me out some, do you like the drag radial as well as a slick? Also, will a 30x10.5 work? I'm running 28x10.5 Stiff sidewall right now. Thanks for the help.

I like the drag radial only because I can take it for a spin and not worry about ruining the sidewall and tread of a slick, it would probably take me 3-4 pair of drag radials to race a whole season, compared to 2 pair of slicks. I keep saying that I'm gonna drop out of points and do more cruising and travel around to different tracks, hasnt happened yet, too addicting :D I'd like to go to Gateway,Tulsa and KCIR next year, we'll see. I think you could get a 30x10.5 under it, they can't be any bigger than the 295/65/15's. A 10" wheel might help the situation too.

Good I'm already running a 10" wheel, so I'll have to get a set, did you pick up any ET by going to a taller tire?

Not really Matt. I just wanted a larger footprint with the new motor, cuz I knew it might be traction challenged. I was running 28" tall tires with 3.73's, went to 30" and 4.11's, to try and keep gearing similar. I was having transmission troubles when I swapped rearends too, so no valuable data there to be had. :( My previous best 60ft with 3.73's and 30" tires was 1.51, had the 1.50 this weekend, but running quicker too and making a little more power in the cooler weather.

I used the 295/65 drag radials this yr also, and would have to agree, they last about half as long as the old et streets or a set of slicks. They do work very well, and make street cruising a little more enjoyable, but the tradeoff is life expectancy. I will be going back to a 30x12.50 ET Street next yr.
