I just installed a Shiftworks 71-72 tach in my 72 dash. I still have to install the dash so I dont know how it functions, but I like the way it looks. Not 100 percent correct, but I wasnt going for that.
Check out the pics below.

I sure do like that! I was thinking about doing something like that when I had my dash out but didn't know there was anything available so I put the dash back in without it.

Bought the same one myself, and just test fit it in dash. I like the look instead of a tach hanging from steering column(just my opinion). What did you do with the hole the clock knob comes out of? Would like to find a clock delete dash, as they had a peice to fit in the hole. Some one posted the shiftworks websight a while back, and they have tachs for earlier Chevelles and for 70-72 Malibu dashes. Its just another option you have for installing a tach in a Chevelle.

I was looking to get the clock delete plug, but not only are they hard to find, the ones I have seen seem to yellow. The hole does not really bother me. One option would be to cut a few lenses to make one to fit with no hole.
