Hey watch that!!!!
Sid Coleman Nov 12th, 05, 11:15 PM Having seen Cecil's crash crew in action, I'm sure the driver is OK. They're pretty good at this track.
keithb Nov 12th, 05, 11:36 PM tell him that tight lug nuts are a good thing to have in a race
80superbu Nov 13th, 05, 12:06 AM Wasn't the lugnuts...snapped both axle shafts
Tex66 Nov 13th, 05, 12:48 AM wow, it really was built Ford tough! :clonk:
Seriously though glad he's alright, I can imagine that was an scarey feeling!
DZAUTO Nov 13th, 05, 12:57 AM Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I'm thinking I don't want to own any of those axles!!!!
bubba68ss Nov 13th, 05, 3:58 AM Yeah, it wasnt the lug nuts, the axles broke. Bummer
GRN69CHV Nov 13th, 05, 7:33 AM My assumption is he had an 8.8 rear, he also had a parachute on the car, so this rear was not up to the power level of that powertrain. Far many more axle breaks in cars with C-CLip rears as the power goes up [ ie 12 bolt Chevy rears]. So no one is immune to the failure problems.
DOUG G Nov 13th, 05, 9:55 AM The car had C-clip eliminators. Look at Vid close.
GRN69CHV Nov 13th, 05, 10:20 AM I saw that he had C-Clip elims, that's what told me it was an 8.8. 8.8's are c-lip design. just like a Chevy 12 bolt. Ford 9" rears don't have them. You can build a 9" with a 35 spline axle with off the shelf parts - this is a very beefy unit.
saturnstyl Nov 13th, 05, 12:18 PM That car has ZERO rear wheel horsepower. Thats because it doesn't have any rear wheels.
Georgia69 Nov 14th, 05, 9:59 AM Thumbs-up to the guy in the other lane for not t-boning him.
jocww Nov 14th, 05, 5:48 PM why did the car keep drifting over to the center after it hit the wall?
69-CHVL Nov 14th, 05, 5:58 PM Whats interesting is that this happened on Saturday. I was there Friday nite when a Mustang lost a wheel and shut down the track for a while.
Looks like there's a pattern here....
quikss Nov 14th, 05, 5:59 PM You know the physics law of every action has an opposite reaction? Well your seeing the reaction to hitting the wall.
I bet the car was going faster than the video looks. He skidded quite a ways.
