the 67 I just bought needs a complete new harness. Should I go with one from a place like OPG or Ground UP and get a Painless harness.
Any big differences?

Thanks

Hi 67ssagain - welcome - seems odd to say that as i joined just a few weeks before you! I am in the process of doing the same and opted for factory style wiring for the following reasons: (i) although part price is higher, labor (for you or someone else) will be comensurately less;) (ii) the system is plug and play - takes out the guess work of what goes where; (iii) comes with all connectors attached...whereas the universal needs to have them crimped on, or spliced; (iv) NO splices...everything connects (or so I was told); and (v) down the road, there is no guess work as to what the you (or the mechanic) did when all you are faced with is splices...or 9 wires going into ignition and wondering what is attached to what).

I purchased from http://www.wiringharness.com

...ask for Ken, he was very helpful. The one thing they do not include and simply don't sell, is the ribbon cable that goes from the dash harness to the rear lamp harness (along the driver's side)...in fact, anyone out there know where I can get a factory style ribbon harness (cable?)?

thanks,
Stephen

the "...ask" is not part of the URL.

One other point...the universal is not cut to lenght, whereas the factory style is.

Good luck...let us know which way you went.

Unless you need to add circuits that were not part of the original harness (power windows, power seats, stereo amps, etc.), then an original style harness is the way to go. It will make the installation a much simpler process and be much easier to get help diagnosing a problem. The Painless harnesses are nice but not factory and as such, will probably not be able to be diagnosed over the internet. Also, M&H can and will create a "custom" harness for a couple of extra circuits, if you need them.

I too agree....order direct from M&H...their stuff is awesome and you don't have to pay the markup that OPGI and other places charge...I do know that the OPGI stuff comes straight from M&H....
