: Why is Astro Blue a rare color?

I've seen several chevelles advertised on ebay and auto trader that are listed as "rare astro blue" origianl color. Does anyone really know how many 70 chevelles were actually painted astro blue? The reason I ask is mine is astro blue and came from factory with no stripes! And I found the build sheet under the back seat springs which show it was an authentic SS. I wonder how rare that was?

Well Scott, don't believe there is any confirmation of production numbers by colors. In those days the primary colors were obviously red, black and the darker blues. Personally, I think the lighter Astro Blue is very sharp and I had the same color code on a 69 GTO I owned recently, although it was called Warwick Blue.

Everthing on ebay is either rare, exclusive, or NOS from a ZL1/LS6.

I agree with Knipe. Everything on e-bay is overvalued.
EXCEPT for the original drivers door window crank handle that I have for sale. Very rare Black model. ONLY 1 per car! Unlike the other three in the car as this one came from a drivers door. I've heard that only a couple of million of these were made. How many could be left? $5,000.00 starting bid. Buy it now price is $10,000.00. Cash only. Buyer to pay $150.00 shipping and handling.

That's right..
Everything on Ebay becomes "RARE"...
Astro Blue is not a rare color.. It's a color like every other color that could have been ordered when the car was new...

The colors that are really rare, are they ones without a color code to them (Custom paint)

I don't think rare is the best choice of words for Astro Blue. Maybe "less common" is more appropriate. Yes, it is a color that was available like any other color, but so was the LS6 option to anyone who wanted to pay for it http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif . Some people refer to these cars as "rare", right???? Hmmmmmm....maybe my Astro Blue Chevelle is rare after all http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif .

I like when they say 'Rare bench seat', like it was a special order or something.
