Hi Guys, I am in the process of changing my oil in preperation for winter storage.. When I pulled the drain plug, I found some finite metal shavings on my magnetic drain plug  ..

This motor has about 1000 miles on it, is it possible that I'm just still pulling out some remenents of the machine work?? Although I think it's a longshot because I scrubbed the heck out of it before assembly..

There have been no symtoms of a failure, although I have never been thrilled with the oil pressure, but it has stayed constent all summer (idles @ 20# & runs @ about 42 or so)..

I'm going to go out & cut the filter open, wish me luck.....

Oil pressure is fine. With only 1000 miles still could be from the assembly. I would see what happens the next time you change the oil.

I cut the filter apart & really didn't find anything to cause alarm, although the oil from inside the filter did seem to "shimmer" in the sunlight.. I'm guessing that was probably just from the bearings wearing in (I HOPE)..

Hopefully the metalic particles from the drain plug are just from the rings seating ( I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope)

I guess I'll have to wait till next year to see how this all shakes down..

I always have the shimmer on the first oil change. I always thought it was from the assembly lube also.

Yeah, I wouldn't have been concerned if it were the first time I changed it, but it's the 3rd... But then again, it's really the first time I have any kind of real run time on an oil change..

Oh well, all I can do is wait & see.. Again, I feel better that there was no carnage inside the filter..

I'm going to go say some kind of engine prayer now :(
