Evening everyone,
I'm over at Team Camaro and Yenko.net alot and I figured since I actually own a Chevelle,I'd join in and see what's happening.
Been a Chevy guy since birth...actually not since birth because my dad worked at Mid-County Buick-Opel in NY back when I was a kid and I remember going to work with him and just playing in '65 GS400 Buicks and "mini-Corvette" Opel GT's.My dad drag raced AA/FD dragsters and the first ever flip-bodied '67 Skylark F/C the world had ever seen.
Those were the days...
Currently, the '69 has the motor out because I just broke a cam in it.It doesn't look "hopeful" inside the motor to say the least...so I am having a nasty 383(550hp)complete forged steel,11.1:1,solid roller motor built for it right now (Chad Golen/www.golenengineservice.com) and bag the 302 for now.I am having my M-21 freshened-up as well as the rear end in preparation for the extra ponies.I hope to have some fun with this car because it really is my favorite.I know...that big-block LS-5 sure is a complete different animal that gets my attention everytime I drive her...but there is something to be said for a screaming small block at full song!
The '69 was originally paint code 59 (Frost Green) but not to diss any Frost Green fans (you know who you are and there are plenty out there!),it wasn't my cup of tea. This is the only car I have changed the color on,the other two are in original colors.
I just sold a '70 El Camino SS-454 Cranberry/Blk that was the wifes car but she refused to drive it after she blew up the motor...leadfoot.After putting less than 200 miles on a new motor in 8 months,I knew I didn't have the time this car deserved so I sold it to a good friend who I know will take care of it and I'll still be able to see it which one cannot always say.
On the Chevelle,I'm currently running 18x8 American Racing Torque-Thrust "D" wheels, the ones with the polished rims and painted centers.I added some Trans-Am style 3" stainless lugs and it really has that old-school look and killer stance.Won Best Musclecar out of 250 cars at the PG Rally during last years Monterey Historic Weekend...which is THE place to be during that wknd for those who have never been.
Sorry for rambling on.Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope to chat with you all soon.
I will try to post some pics of my cars soon.
