Pro65, here are a few links that you can look at for vinyl and flame decals. There is a company that also sells the masking templates to paint on various flame designs, but I don't have the link handy now.

Hey PRO, theres some really good custom painting books out on the market that will teach you how to go about this. Plus it never hurts to know someone that has done this type of work before. Go bc/cc and keep everything under the clear. Sherwin Williams paints can have the base coat on for 7 days before you have to clear over all the work. Most other urethane systems give you a 24 hour window before clearing. This might come in handy if your slapping alot of different colors to her. Keep in mind this is very tedious work and the procedures can get to be a pain in the u know what. That's why the shops charge so much for the work.

It's also a good idea to draw the scheme out on a picture of your car so you get a feel of what it's going to look like. Plus picking the right colors that go together will either make it a eye popper or a tummy turner. If you need any pointers just holler on here and I'll help out. You can save a ton of money doing it yourself.

Heya PRO.. any chance you could undo the CAPS LOCK? it makes it hard too read.. Some interesting stuff.. As for your questions.. There are some really good books and videos on custom painting (and plain painting) I purchased a video from "House of Kolor" on painting, and I learned ALOT from it.. You may want to grab a few books from your local bookstore, and try www.autobodysupply.net (http://www.autobodysupply.net) for the videos. If you are looking for combinations to try, do yourself a favor and take a trip to an art store and buy a color wheel. they will tell you the primary colors that go with each other, or look for a book on color theory. they will give you alot of contrast/matching colors for your current picks.. Good Luck.. Hope too see MANY pictures... P.S. custom painting isn't as hard as it looks.. just takes patience and a steady hand.. take a look

Light silvers, Dark cherry, Medium orange, Hpt purples, and Bright yellows. Just to name a few.
But it all depends on the pain scheme as to what colors I would use. Electric blues look good to, like what is on the 95 Corvettes.

That's too bad what the body shop did to the undercarriage. I would of made them fix it. They should of known better after all that hard work you put into it.

I use white or clear contact paper to stencil small or intricate flames/graphics. Cuts the tape time in third and wont lift or bleed. The adhesive does'nt leave a residue. I draw the flames/graphic to the paper the cut out carefully with a razor knife and apply in pieces to the subject. I've been using this method on smaller pieces; snowmobile hoods, motorcycle tanks, fenders, ect. for years now and like the results. This way I/customer can visualize the end result and change if necessary.
