Maybe it's just my monitor that makes the pictures too dark ? ?

i used the fiberglass box from american grafittie, took a little work to make a perfect fit, but looked pretty good when i was done-makes an a/c car look like non a/c

I think I have an extra cover in the garage if you are looking for one...

THANKS GUYS!!!

Those pictures help. I just noticed that the hole in the firewall is a lot larger then it needs to be for a NON A/C box.

Could anybody make a "template" and send me dimensions or the actual template on a piece of paper?? I guess that may be asking too much....

I wonder if the blower hole is the same size/ location?? I know the actual heater core hole is WAY off...

How much was that "american grafittie" box??

THANKS AGAIN!!!

Actually I think the non A/C hole is taller but the A/C hole is wider.

Here is my son's patched 70 firewall after replacing the A/C plenum with a heat only plenum.
You can see how much had to be patched to cover the original A/C hole.

I don't mind making a template if you need one.

I did my neighbors 69 firewall last winter. Keep the heater core where it's at and everything else intact on the inside of the car.
Hold the non air box in place and scribe around it.
This will show you the size of the patch you need to make.
I butt welded the patch in place, grinded it smooth, sanded ,primed and then painted.
The ac duct door has to be shaved down for the non air box to fit flush.
Take the fan speed resistor and mount it on the top of the box with the coils inside the non air box. This will leave all the wiring intact should the next guy like to put the air back on. When it's all done it looks totally clean and original.
Any questions, repost and I will help some more.
Also did this on his brothers 69 camaro BB car. Same appearance when finished.

THANKS FOR ALL THE POSTS!

It is now time to do the modifaction..... A template would be cool if someone has one. I do have the non A/C box and the inside complete non A/C unit.

It appears that the blower motor hole will not change, just the heater core hole.

Someone have a template to send me or email me?? I would appreciate it!!! Even some dimensions would be cool too....

THANKS,

Rick

I custom made an AC delet heater box way before American Grafitti came out with theirs. All I did was chop off the blower motor section of a non AC box, use carboard to make a template of the AC box, and make pieces I needed out of steel.

Non A/C cars have two 4" fresh air holes through the firewall that do NOT exist on A/C cars.
