Ive gotta 69 beaumont/chevelle with a 388 stroker that was just built it dinoed at 422hp and 448tq at the crank. Now that the moters done im looking for some ways to get it to run a little quicker at the track which led me to dropping weight. Any ideas or tips on dropping weight off this hefty car I weighed it in at 3950 without me in it. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Taking weight off involves either deleting accessories and features or spending money on lightweight parts. Which way would you like to go? That does seem a little extra hefty for a small block car - were the scales certified?

My '65 weighs in at 3,380 lbs with a full gas tank, add another 185 lbs for the driver. 1,820 lbs on the front, for a 54% front to 46% rear weight distribution. It is a manual everything car with aluminum heads, a glass lift off hood, WilWood brakes etc.

My 68 SS-396 Chevelle, with an all iron except the intake big block scaled @ 3650 with a half tank of gas.

Free stuff first, scrape off the under coating, sound insulation, air conditioning parts ?
Light weight wheels
Fiberglass hood
Fiberglass front bumper
Fiberglass front fenders...

Check out the Performance forum too, this stuff has been discussed alot, and there is a lot of good ideas in there.
