I'm going to the body shop all next week to do odd's and ends to the chevelle. One of the most important things i'm going to be doing is the floor. What should I do after I strip the old carpet and vaccuum out the floorboards? Any special glue or adhesive that I should get to spray down? Can I buy something at a local parts or paint store? Thanks in advance.

SSgt,
What are trying to glue down? The padding, or the carpet? I didn't think either one of these were actually glued in place. I could be wrong though.
If you've got all the old stuff out, I would make sure all of the mounting areas for the seats, console, seat belts, etc. are sealed up with some of the dum-dum stuff, and then the padding and carpet can be laid in place.
If you're thinking about adding speakers at a later time, then I would run the wires under the carpeting. You can always roll up the extra wire on the ends and hide it, but at least it would be there if you needed it.
Good luck with the car, and thanks for serving our country. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Jim,
That is a nice looking chevelle you have there sir.
Thanks for the advice. I guess I could have elaborated about what I was planning on putting down. The thing is, I want to clean the floor and put just the drives seat back in, until after the body shop gets finished with the painting. Then when the car is finished and I get it home, I'm going to put in the underlay, carpet, headliner, etc etc.
It's guys like you that make me serving my country worth it. But I noticed you had a cammie jacket hanging in your garage, did you serve in the military? Thanks for the help once again. Take care

Well after I removed the sound deadner I sprayed the floor with brake cleaner. Then scrubbed it down with simple green. It worked fine for me. I would think that oven cleaner or something else would also work I just happen to have both items handy.
