I have my dash apart on a 67 Malibu. It is a 283 with air. I have installed a new wiper motor but I am having trouble. I purchased a new motor thinking the old motor was shot. But the new motor has the same problem. First, it will only come on occasionally when I turn the ignition on and have the switch already on high. Most of the time, it doesn't run at all. However, I can give the motor a push and it will run in high and occasionally in the low position.
What is my error? Like I said, the new and the old motor are responding in the same way. So, assume it isn't a problem with the motor.
Thanks,

I have had problems with the 67 wiper switch. The switch wears out internally and becomes intermittant. Try installing a new switch. They cost about $35. :D

You might want to try doing a search in the Electrical section of the forum. There are a lot of good posts there. The dash switch provides the ground for the wiper motor to work, so you have to have the switch body grounded otherwise you'll get no or weird function. Good Luck....Odie

Have you checked the electrical connections? Have you tried a test light on the motor terminal plugs with the switch in the on position? Is the firewall block clean were the harness attaches at the firewall? Is the fuse block rusty at the fuses? Is the wiper switch grounded to the dash, new paint will prevent this?
Double check all the electrical. Is the wiper motor new or a rebuild? Is the wiper trans linkage properly lubricated and not rusted tight?
Hope this helps.
