: 70 bumpers, who makes the best?
70sixspeed Feb 2nd, 04, 3:27 AM I am looking to order front and rear bempers for my 70, and I was curious who you guys use and recommend for a good piece. I know some companies have thin, poorly fitting pieces, so any info would be great so I know Im getting the good stuff!
Fast Eddies 67 Feb 4th, 04, 8:33 AM I just got new ons from goodmark and am pleased with the way they look so far.(Not show quality triple plated)Havent tried fitting them yet ,so can't speak to that ...yet.
70sixspeed Feb 6th, 04, 1:13 PM How much did they cost you? I have been looking at either OPGI or Danchuk, but alot of their stuff in the past I get seem low quality, so Id rather pay a little more and get something better. Does anyone have experience with the opgi or danchuk ones?
ToocoolZ28 Feb 6th, 04, 9:55 PM I bought my rear from Ground Up and it is top quality, very nice. I got my front from Year One and its pretty wavy, I wouldnt recommend it.

Super70 Feb 9th, 04, 1:11 PM Bought a front bumper for a '70 Chevelle about 8 years ago from Ausley's Chevelle. Seems to be a be a pretty well made bumper. Slight differences from my original since the bumper extensions don't mount flush to the bumper very well -- ther's a small space (1/8")in between the bumper and the extensions. I believe I paid about $250 for it. Don't know who the manufacturer was, although in speaking with Mr, Ausley, he stated his company made it.
I also bouth a NOS '70 Chevelle GM rear bumper at a swap meet about 4 years ago. Paid $100! A very good buy.

mr 4 speed Feb 10th, 04, 8:11 AM Dynacorn and Goodmark are the only 2 bumper mfg....doesn't matter who you get them from, they're just distributors..the Dynacorns are nice..I've seen their front and rear bumpers for a 69 'velle and they looked very good to me..prices are $169 each and these are the EXACT bumpers that GU sells http://www.musclecarsonly.com/CA6472BUMP1.html
Havent seen the Goodmarks in person so I can't comment there..
1970SS396&1967 Feb 11th, 04, 8:26 PM Got mine from National Parts Depot and measured the thickness with a digital mic and they were as thick or thicker than the originals! They fit great too!
my front was from year one and the back from goodmark they are both ok but not a factory bumper.i didn't even think about it but wish i would have sprayed some type of sealer on back side of them they both have a little surface rust on them now the back side.it didn't help that it had to be parked outside for a year and a half but with a cover.anyway just a thought and i am no bodyman at all. goodluck graemlins/thumbsup.gif
cm70man Feb 14th, 04, 10:04 AM I bought the Dynacorn rear bumper for my 70SS from the same place that Mr 4 Speed provided the link to and I'm pretty happy with it. Not show quality but nice IMO. When shopping around I found that Ground Up also sold the Dynacorn, along with a lot of the other suppliers.
Since half of the chrome is covered with the SS pad I thought I'd be OK......
