Can anyone clue me into what is involved in replacing the vinyl trim that is across the top of the windshield frame on 70 Chevelle convertibles? What kind of vinyl to use, where to get it and the basic process of making sure the new vinyl is installed to look decent.
Thanks!

Just did my '69. Removed the stainless windshield trim, sun visors, mirror and upper mouldings. Ripped off the old stuff, sanded and cleaned the glue off, this is a good time to replace the trim clips, then applied Contact Cement to the frame and back of heavy vinyl I got at an upholstery shop. Stick it down at one end and holding it up at an angle, STRETCH it across to the other side, then pull down to make contact. I also replaced the pillar weatherstrip since they had to come off to get the A pillar stainless covers off. This is the first time I ever tried to one and it looks great.

I'm currently restoring a 68 Convertible. Small world, just this last Saturday I went to an auto upholstery shop to get a piece of material for the same thing. They said no one manufacturers anything of that tough quality anymore. They gave me some material that they use on manufacturing the tops. But it isn't the same texture as the vinyl they used originally. However they said it would last three times as long as the current vinyl on the market.
I'm going to let them do the complete interior job, but I wanted to re-assemble all the components that are associated with the front windshield, trim, pillars, wipers, cowl molding, windshield moldings, cowl vent screens, convertible corner brackets, sunvisor mounts, etc.
