What is the proper spark plug gap for a GM goodwrench 350 crate motor?

If you are using a high energy HEI ignition the gap may be as much as 40-45....

(the gap on my plugs is 40 with MSD HEI)

Ditto, 40 to 45 if you are using any HEI or aftermarket ignition with a good coil, and magnetic or optical trigger....

Just curious- what would happen if the gap was opened too far???

FYI, On an HEI w/MSD, the MSD book says to start @ .050 on the plug gap. :D

SML BLK CHV,if you give us some more info like what type ign your running(HEI vs points),carb, cam, heads, gear etc so we can give you better advice.

You could be using anywhere from .035-.060 gap depending on your motor setup & most importantly ign type/setup.
