Im getting ready to repaint my 1965 elco interior, and I would like some input on what colors look similar to the original but have a little more depth. My PPG dealer recomended astro blue p/n 13042 but I think thats a 1965 Buick color. Should I go with single stage or bc/cc.

Astro Blue was a Chevelle and Monte color in 1970 by the way.

Go with the base clear system like Deltron. Since your color is a metallic color spraying it in a single stage would be very tough to do for a beginner. You have to worry about the metallics laying out in a even pattern so you dont have light or dark spots in the paint because the flakes are all messed up. Plus you worry about the gloss. Where in a base clear, you get the even layed out metallics then get the gloss with the clear coat. Go with the base clear you will be much happier in the end.
