Were the firewalls painted the same color as the body on all chevelles....or were they painted black?

I'm not far off in getting to that point in my '67 restoration and need to know.

Thanks.

They were painted black, I know Eastwood sells that paint if you are interested.

Except at least some canadian produced chevelles. See this post http://www.chevelles.com/forum/Forum3/HTML/001299.html . This is the only post on the subject that I could find, but it has been mentioned several times.

If your chevelle is not canadian produced, the black is correct, if it is canadian produced, I'd contact someone at Canadian Classic Chevelles & Beaumonts (http://CdnClassics.Chevelles.net/)
Its possible that not all years from canada had body colored firewalls.

on my 2 64's the firewalls are black but under the black I found the body color. I'm assuming the whole body was sprayed and then the black added later.

My personal opinion is that body colour looks better, but the semi gloss black is much easier to maintain.
