1965 Chevelle
Car is sagging in the driver rear. So I went under the car. The body mount point in that area (truck I guess), has rusted through and torn from the body. The frame is in tact, but the mount separated from the trunk/body I guess.
What are my options? Not many I would suppose. Just get a new mount point and weld it in, or do I need a whole rear body?
Thanks,
jeff

It depends on the extent of the rot as to how much metal would need replaced. You can buy a reproduction trunk braces from any number of vendors, so hopefully that is all your repair would require. If the area of the trunk floor around the brace is rotted also, well then that complicates things a bit more.

At first glance, I believe the area around the trunk floor to also be rotted. Would I then need to replace the trunk floor, then the braces? Or am I better off finding another body altogether?

Rust holes in the trunk floor and rotted trunk floor braces where the body mounts go are very common. Aftermarket suppliers sell trunk floors in pieces and they sell new braces. Great place to learn how to weld and fabricate your own patch panels. Fix your floor and mount braces and enjoy the satisfaction of having done it yourself.

Thanks appreciate the info. Yes, I don't know how to weld, just yet. Purchased a book and I'm going to enroll at the local technical school.

if it's just the side brace area that is often affected. they make ( Sherman ) a patch trunk panel, that go's around your wheel well house and the side edge of the trunk, it has the side body mount pre weled to it.
both RS and L/S if you need both...
But you'll still need a welder ect to preform this FIX
