I have a SUN temp gauge that reads 210 degrees with the key turned off. When I set the key to the on position the guage goes to 140 degrees. This is a brand new engine (396) thayt has not been started. The SUN guage is an old electric one that I have connected to a new SUN PRO sending unit. Do I need a specific sending unit or am I doing something strange here?
Thanks,
Dale

could be the sender, but sounds like you have got a ground problem. jason

I too beleive it's a ground issue. Should be easy enough to trace the line. I do beleive the sending units can be gauge/brand/model specific. Might want to go to Suns' web-site for some technical questions/answers. John at REDLINE Gauges is a dood resource. 1.800.375.2310
good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I did check the ground and it appears to be OK. I connected a ground wire from the sending unit to the negitive post of the battery and the gauge still acts the same. Does anyone know the address of the SUN Instuments web site?
Thanks,
Dale
