How's that for a topic? I'm sure there are some members, probably Canadian, that have a recipe or two.

My mother in-law use to make them, she passed away over 10 years ago and my wife doesn't have her mom's recipe. We've had one in the freezer for a few months and would like to cook it up. I think she made it with just sauerkraut and potatoes but we're not sure. We found a few recipes on the web but they are different, maybe it was her own recipe. Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yum Yum!

No recipe for pork cottage roll.

How about "jellied moose nose" or a nice tasty "stink flipper"?, ( you need a nice plump seal and a few weeks for the flippers to ferment) :) Both are local favorites of some folks I know.

Sounds tasty! I'll have to try them some time. A Cottage roll is a sweet pickled pork roast, obviously Canadian because you can't buy them here. Not even in the Detroit area, right across the border. You have to try peameal bacon sometime. It's the real Canadian bacon, not what you get in the states that they call Canadian bacon. It's pickled too, fried with eggs or on a sandwich, yum yum.

Oh well, we'll experiment and see how it turns out.

Heck, "jellied moose nose" sounds to me just to be old-fashioned "head-cheese" lunchmeat??

Good stuff.

Pork is real tasty when you bury it in the ground with some banana leaves and hot rocks for a few hours, too. :D

Once, years ago when I was working up at Alcoa, Massena, NY, a guy on the refractory maintenance crew brought in about three or four of his wife's "meat pies" for a treat at lunch for the whole crew..

GOOD too!! Just a full pie-crust type pie filled with ground, seasoned beef and some unions and whatever was all....
