: Floor pan overlap question

You guys that overlaped your floor pans when replacing then. Did you weld both sides or weld the outside and seam seal the inside. Having problems butt welding and will buy a new panel and chalk it up as learning curve.

I am an amatuer, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me? When I did mine, I did the lap joint simply because unless you have this pan screwed down all the way all over, things move as it sounds like you have found out.

I even had to drill a hole and put a bolt with a nut and washers through to get the pan to match up to supports right.

I did weld both sides of the lap joint. If I had it to do over again I'd spray weld through primer on top of the black e-coating before welding the seams together.

On the bottom I sprayed 3m Undercoating in the spray can on top of everything.

I am guessing I'll see that joint rust at some point?

If it is getting the pans close enough to weld check out my sig i had no trouble butt welding all the pans.
